This is a single, brand new, factory fresh, 7/8" diameter Silver and Deming style M2 molybdenum alloy high speed steel drill bit with a 1/2" reduced shank.  Silver and Deming bits, also known as reduced shank bits, allow for drilling holes with a diameter greater than the traditional 1/2" chuck size found in drill presses and larger handheld drills.  These bits find most common application in drilling aluminum alloys, but are also hard enough to drill large holes in iron and are polished smooth enough for wood applications as well.  M2  tempered steel alloys incorporate vanadium and molybdenum in the alloy, which allow for much greater bending strength, more consistent thermal properties, and 50% higher toughness (reduced propensity to wear) over T1 (basic) high speed steel.  In addition to the extremely high quality make-up of their steel, these bits are also precision sharpened and balanced to insure they take a true seat in your drill press and cut cleanly out of the box.  Finally, they are finished with an industrial strength black oxide coating which will further reduce the initial rates of wear and forces of friction along the flutes when drilling in softer materials like wood.   -Full size 6-1/8" OAL with 3-1/4 flutes.   -Extremely durable M2 High Speed Steel construction with industrial smooth black oxide finish -Rated for a 30% higher drill speed over HSS bits -Precision ground flutes and tips cut clean out of the box! -1/2" shank fits standard drill presses and larger hand held drills As always, the items I sell are items that I use, and that I find to be of particular value.   These Silver and Deming drill bits come in increments of 1/16" from 9/16" - 1".  They can be sharpened with the correct diamond hand files or bit sharpeners, but will hold the factory edge for a very very long time regardless, and at prices at or below the cheapest cut rate bits you'll find anywhere, you can use them as extremely durable disposables, or sharpen them for life.  They cut cleanly and accurately without heat expansion giving you proper diameter size every time.  My only word of advice for their use, is that if you are putting them in a drill press for working iron, be sure to use a lubricant oil, as should always be the practice.  They, like any other bit, are prone to dulling and overheating more quickly in iron if no lubricant is present,  With a little oil they bore through aluminum and ferrous metals like butter.      Best offer feature is primarily intended for customers to suggest combined shipping discounts.  My single item buy it now prices are typically as low as I can go for an individual sale, but check out my other auctions, and if you see anything else you like, buy one item and we can work out combined shipping discounts on additional items using the best offer / counter offer feature.  For small items it can make a pretty big difference in per item cost. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions before or after sale.     Thanks for viewing!
