They feature a hold in the top for you finger to lift off the food and also for steam venting THESE ARE OVAL (The pict almost looks round but that is just due to the camera angle) Note: These dishes were in storage and not used for some years, and should be cleaned/sanitized before use.They can be run through a dishwasher and that should clean them right up or "brillo" pad will clean these right up to shining like new.
