Scintillation Crystal Radiation Absorbed Dose Indicator. Unique and SUPER RARE. New, Old stock Lot of 10 pcs (10 crystals, non-irradiated). Scintillation crystal radiation absorbed dose indicator used to precision determine absorbed dose of x-ray, gamma and neutron radiation. This is phosphate glass by silver activated PG(Ag). Method of determine absorbed dose based on radioluminescence effect. PG(Ag) crystal after irradiation acquires the ability to luminescence under ultraviolet light. The intensity of luminescence serves as a measure of the absorbed dose. Non-irradiated crystal has an absorption band in the ultraviolet range. Ionizing radiation creates a new optical absorption band of 300-400 nm. Optical excitation within the new absorption spectrum causes luminescence. Increasing the radiation dose increases the luminescence in the visible optical range 500-800 nm. Non-irradiated glass luminescence has an initial dose of conformity 3 Rad (0.03 Gy). High-accuracy measuring using photomultiplier with filters. Perfect for measuring dose gradient of x-radiation field from medical x-ray tubes and industrial x-ray emitting tubes (while Geiger tubes getting false-counts near high-voltage equipment). Can be use to DIY alternative radiation dosimeter.
