THE BEE-KEEPER'S GUIDE; OR, MANUAL OF THE APIARY ***************************** This auction is for an original 1881 SIXTH EDITION of "THE BEE-KEEPER'S GUIDE; OR, MANUAL OF THE APIARY" by A. J. Cook, published by Thomas G. Newman, Chicago. In 1876, the author, in response to a desire frequently expressed by his apiarian friends, published an edition of 3,000 copies of the little unpretending, " Manual of the Apiary." It was little more than the course of lectures that the author gave annually at the College. This sixth edition, published only 5 years after the first edition, has been revised, enlarged, mostly rewritten and beautifully ILLUSTRATED! to keep up with the expanding art of Bee-keeping. This book consists of an Introduction and is then divided into 2 parts. Part one is the Natural History of the Honey Bee. Part two is the Apiary, Its Care and Management. The book is extensively Illustrated and is filled with everything you need to know about bee-keeping. The cover has a gilt illustration of a bee and the cover and the spine show slight wear around the corners and the edges.
