Auction is for  2 pieces of Pyrolytic graphite sheet or plate that have been hanging around the kitchen counter for several months, apparently looking for handouts.  These can be used for magnetic levitation and diamagnetic experimentation. These are 2 thinner sheets which can be used separately or nested together to form a thicker piece. The thinner sheet has a couple of rounded corners.  Pyrolytic graphite repels magnetic fields in both north and south directions. It has almost as good thermal transmission properties as copper along its length, but acts as an insulator thru its thickness. Can be used as an insulator or a heating element. Stable to 5430 degrees F, and resistant to many plasmas and molten metals.   Actual minimum dimensions of these pieces  are 1.013" long x 1.0075" x 0.0155" thick for the one with the rounded corners and 1.0545" x 0.9555 " x 0.0350" thick for the darker slightly rectangular one.  The last 2 photos show both pieces stacked together levitating a 1/4" cube grade n42 magnet. Either piece will levitate the magnet (marginally) and either piece will float over a N&S pole magnetic checker board which will need to be 1-1/2" square or larger to keep the plates from sliding off to one side (or you can saw them in smaller pieces to fit on a smaller checkerboard). Levitation requires an adjustable "lifter" magnet above to help support the weight of the magnet.  Levitation unit and 1/4" neodymium magnet are not included in the auction.  Shipping is free to the USA via first class mail.
