In situations where the battery is failing and the motor cannot be started, or the alternator has failed, the Havis ChargeGuard Timer Switch provides an emergency communications method via the CB radio. There is a button on the end of the unit that, when pressed, restores power to the electrical accessories for approximately 15 minutes. Furthermore, the unit prevents operating with reversed polarity to protect attached electrical accessories from reverse voltage damage. The delay timer selection, made by DIP switch settings in one-hour increments of time, allows for a variable period of time when accessories remain on after the engine is shut off. Additionally, a low voltage detector, with 11 volts priority, turns off the output within 15 minutes, and a high voltage detector (18 volts) protects your electrical accessories from a faulty voltage regulator. These USED units were installed prior, then pulled from service when the cop cars were decommissioned, and may contain signs of wear from being moved around. These units, sold as "for parts or not working," contain built-in sensors that automatically turn on electrical accessories when the vehicle engine starts and support a maximum 30 ampere electrical accessory current load.
