The pumping gears are keyed to their shafts with a sliding fit and are easily replaced, if it becomes necessary. Accurate machining insures proper meshing, and reduces friction and vibration. LONG-LASTING WEARING SURFACES Bearings are special wear-resistant, high-lead bronze. Iron and carbon bearings are available. Four heavy duty sleeve bearings give positive support to pumping gears and insure long, efficient service. Bearing grooves allow circulation of the liquid being pumped for lubrication and control of bearing temperature. Outboard drive shaft bearing supports external radial loads and absorbs thrust loads. Additional Information RUGGED HOUSING All castings are made of cast iron Precise manufacturing tolerances provide minimum clearances for maximum pumping efficiency. Large, hardened steel dowel pins insure positive alignment between the faceplate, case, and back plate. PRECISION-GROUND SHAFTS The steel shafts are induction hardened in the bearing and packing areas and are precision ground to exacting standards for maximum life. Hardened stainless steel shafts are available. HI-DRIVE AND LOW-DRIVE UNITS Roper offers hi-drive and lo-drive units, with both made of the same basic assemblies. Should it be necessary to change the pump from one arrangement to the other, it can be done easily by disassembling the pump and reassembling it as desired. Pump housings are Cast Iron. All models shown are equipped with outboard shaft bearings.
