Up for sale this time we have a set of 3 wood boring augers. They are long like what an electrician or a bell hanger might use. I can find marks on these but only partial on two. I do believe they have some age to them. These are spur center bits. The shorter one is just about 17 3/4" long overall and would have a serviceable length of about 16". It is 3/4" in diameter. It has a confusing mark on one side of the tang which appears to be an 8 but is not real plain (could be an owners mark) and it has two parallel lines all the way across another side of the tang. The middle of the three is just about 18" long and would be workable up to about 16 1/4". It has a diameter of 5/8". It is marked Snell Mfg Co. Fiskdale Mass. and 10/16. The longer of the three is 18 3/8" long overall and could be used up to about 16 1/2". It is also 5/8" in diameter. It has marks similar to the first but logical. It has 10 on one side of the tang and the same 2 parallel lines on another side of the tang. They are not in bad shape and I believe they would make great user tools. I have never tried to sharpen an auger but I feel confident it would not take much to tune these up nicely. I am working on selling off a 30+ year collection of tools and collectibles. I have a total of ten of these augers. I am going to sell them in groups but I will work with multiple auction winners to achieve a shipping savings. These could also be used in barn building or post and beam construction. They would also look good or could be used in a boat or ship building yard or display. Going to start it out to protect my investment and let you all decide where it goes from there. My fate is in your hands but yours is on the line too.
