High power 2 WATT 445nm laser diode pull from Casio XJ-M Series projector with no hours (0 exactly see pic).  Usually I extract these from low hour projectors, but this one is brand new in box. These diodes have a 20,000 hr. lifetime. Both types 1W and 2W were found in this projector. See my other auctions for the 1 W versions. The laser in picture is doing 1.25 watts. (this laser is not for sale and is to illustrate what you can build with a little imagination and spare parts). There is a little smoke in pic to show off beam as it was shot in daytime. Each of these diodes has been tested for a few seconds in my rather crude but effective diode test jig (seen in pic) made from a modified diode array assembly from a projector. My jig clamps both sides of the diode flange for maximum heat dissipation and I am using a Lasorb anti ESD/surge device to assure your diode has been tested safely. I take them up to about 1 watt in testing. I make sure they all perform well at a set current. These were removed by me carefully with anti-static mat, wrist strap and esd safe de-soldering iron. These are ready to be installed. The terminals have been cleaned of excess solder so you can plug it right into a socket, or solder the leads with the bit of tinning solder that remains. I do NOT recommend installing this is one of those "press in" style mounts. even if it is copper. MANY diode sellers are pushing these along with the diodes. These come cheaply from China with plastic lenses as the design of the mount is NOT for high power. Get one that has a screw down mount that provides heat transfer to both sides of the diode flange. These run real hot. Those press in mounts work, but you may lose half the life of your diode from inadequate heat sinking. This is why some sellers of the press in style state that it has a "duty cycle" of a few seconds. I have had many people ask me about this style mount. I have added a picture of typical ones found on eBay. Just do a search on laser diode mounts. Get one that that is threaded for an M9 0.5 lens that you can buy separately on ebay. There are several available. Some are singlet lenses, some are triple element. Make sure it is AR coated for blue wavelengths. This auction is for one 2 Watt laser diode w/shorting block for esd protection only. NO LENS included. (the ones from the projectors don't make the best beam anyway). They will be shipped in an anti-static bag and foam cushioning. NO RETURNS  These have been professionally tested and packed. I have no control over how the end user will handle/drive the diode. By bidding you are certifying that you are a minimum of 18 years old. You are responsible for the proper legal and safe use and handling of this device. I recommend you use a driver circuit that has esd protection such as a "lasorb" device and soft start. They require around 4.5-4.8VDC @ 1.6A for around 2 Watt output. 1.8A Max. There is much information on these on the various laser forums. You will find all you need to know there. The only other thing you need is common sense. Thanks for looking
