THANKS FOR SUPPORTING AMERICA'S SMALL FAMILY FARMS....same location since 1847 Up for auction is 6+ show quality Silver-laced Wyandotte  fertile hatching eggs.  We sell quite a few hatching eggs locally and have extra on occasion.  Our flock is free ranged each 3rd day, alternating with our BLRW Wyandottes and BBS Ameraucanas. They lay their eggs in their predator and weather safe shelter . They are fed a well balanced diet and flourish on seasonal native and planted species on several acres each 3rd day. We have checked their fertility and appears excellent. Our SLW flock consist of 3 roos and 12 hens. "Although several generations removed, our flock does trace back to the Sterling line...we have vigorously bred and selected for breed standards and also: hardiness, ability to forage, minimum broodiness of hens and most important....egg production." We hatch a very large number of birds each year. Fertility is excellent. We store our eggs in a climate controlled incubation room using egg turners before placing in incubator or shipping. Please be mindful that I am not responsible for your hatch rate when incubating eggs - I can only guarantee fertility of the eggs. Cold/Hot extremes in weather can affect your eggs during shipment. Hatching eggs can be a difficult process & there are many variables which can affect your hatch rates (keep eggs stored little end down, turn eggs 3x's daily if you don't have a turner in incubator, allow eggs to reach room temp. before putting in incubator & just be sure you have researched the topic on hatching eggs/raising chickens & do as your incubator tells you to do to get the best results!  Wyandottes are known as the "Bird of Curves" & make great backyard "Eye Candy"! The Wyandotte is a beautiful and useful breed that was named after a Native American tribe prevalent in parts of upstate New York and Ontario, Canada. They were first named American Sebrights but this was changed to Wyandotte when they were admitted into the APA Standard of Perfection in 1883. The Silver Laced Wyandotte was the original color recognized. Their origins are uncertain but the Wyandottes are thought to have been developed from the Dark Brahma and Spangled Hamburgs, as well as other breeds. Since the development of the Silver Lace, many other varieties of Wyandottes have also been bred.  Wyandottes have a rose comb that is fairly flat and has small rounded points. These are smaller in the female. The face, wattles and ear lobes are bright red. The neck hackles of the cock are full and flowing and the tail is carried at a 40 degree angle. The Wyandotte is a friendly and calm breed that is cold hardy. They are not good flyers. The hens are good mothers and egg producers. The eggs range in color from light to brown. They are an excellent dual purpose bird and mature fairly quickly. They are quite big, weighing about 6.5lbs for the hens and 8.5lbs for the cock. Wyandottes are an excellent dual-purpose bird, which can be raised to produce both eggs and meat. They are particularly well-suited for regions that have cold winters. Egg Laying — Wyandottes are good layers (200-240) of light to rich brown eggs and are good winter layers. Hardy — The rose comb, plumage, and good body size of the Wyandotte make it well suited to cold climates. Temperament – Wyandottes are generally docile and friendly, but some individuals can be aggressive. Adaptability – Wyandottes tolerate confinement well, and they are also good foragers, which makes them well suited for free ranging.
