This material is used for high-wear applications, as listed online. Examples include helicopter gears, transmission parts and shafts, pinions, ect. I acquired this material from a business that no longer needed it's surplus. I had a small sample (about 10 grams) removed, photoed, and submitted to LTI (Laboratory Testing Inc.) in Hatfield Pa. They are a highly respected service that provides non-destructive material testing for the aircraft, medical and other companies in need of this service. Nadcap accredited. With this purchase I will provide the certified test report taken just this last July. The material is identified as UNS G9310 or commonly referred to as simply 9310 Ni-Cr-Mo when placing an order at a steel mill. The report gives the actual breakdown percentage for eight elements with the balance being iron. This material can be temperature hardened. 100% guaranteed reliable.
