DIODES AND POINTERS ARE NOT THE SAME. This is not a sale for a pointer. This diode is brand new, and was not extracted from a machine. The pins show that this is a brand new item, as they are uncut and have no solder remains. After many tests, these diodes have proven themselves to be reliable at high current high power operation. This diode is a standard size of 5.6mm and will press into a standard Aixiz module. A heatsink is an absolute necessity with this diode since it can handle so much power. If I do not already have heatsinks and Aixiz modules in my shop, I guarantee they will be available soon. This diode can be run up to an absolute maximum current of 1000 milliamps with the risk of diode life being shortened. As an example of the ability of this diode, the video below shows the laser diode powered in a module and heatsink to 920 milliamps. Since this diode is in the infrared spectrum of 808nm, the spot is only weakly visible as a red dot. However, this does not mean that power is not being emitted, and presents significant danger as it does not appear bright at all, so please use high caution when operating. The lens used in the power graph and video was the G2 lens threaded in a standard Aixiz module. One necessary note is that this diode is a multi-mode, and the beam size at a distance grows very large. This diode should mainly be intended for close burning or high power infrared illumination. The third image shown in the listing is the beam size at a distance of 15 feet. Also, I would like to note that I powered this diode with a custom DC power supply, and have no recommendations for drivers other than that it be constant current, and capable of 1100 milliamps of driving amperage. Recommended parameters (and warnings) for use..... ESPECIALLY USE ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) protection at all times when handling this diode. Since its driving voltage is so low, it is much more susceptible to static death. Do not power up diode unless pressed into Aixiz module and appropriate heatsink with a proper driving circuit or otherwise stable power source. A laser diode powered outside of an Aixiz module WILL overheat to the point of destruction in seconds. Do not point at people, ANY vehicles, animals, satellites, buildings, or yourself. THIS LASER WILL BLIND YOU PERMANENTLY IF YOU LOOK INTO THE BEAM DESPITE ITS SEEMINGLY LOW INTENSITY! Please use INFRARED laser safety goggles as well, as even glancing reflection will do damage to the eye. Maximum voltage: 2.39 volts Absolute maximum current (potential diode death): 1150 milliamps Threshold current: ~70 milliamps Optimum current/voltage (for decent diode lifetime): 2.29 volts @ 900 milliamps (output at this current is ~870mW) The sale is for one 5.6mm 800mW+ 808nm laser diode. Please note that an Aixiz module is required for proper collimation, and does provide some heatsinking ability. An additional heatsink is REQUIRED is you plan to run the diode for more than 5 seconds. These diodes are ALWAYS shipped in ESD packaging, and are TESTED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SHIPMENT at 300 milliamps to ensure lasing.
