ACE CONTROLS LOT OF 15 MINI SHOCK ABSORBERS; SELF-COMPENSATING & ADJUSTABLE SERIES w/ MOUNT NUTS - MINT CONDITION These ACE CONTROLS brand (or labelled) miniature series shock absorbers were purchased new and never used and therefore are in MINT condition and very clean. They do not leak and have various strokes and damping resistances. I bought a large quantity and variety for use on various projects for the Science Olympiad and these are what is left. This is a great deal for someone who has many applications for their usage. Basically they are hydraulic linear decelerators that convert kinetic and potential energy into heat that is dispersed through the hydraulic fluid ( Dextron II trans fluid) inside the "shock absorber". An example where it can be used is to slow down a cabinet door or hinged lid that will fall with the aid of gravity. The 15 miniature shocks have working strokes of 5mm, 10mm, 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch and are listed as follows as seen from left to right top to bottom in the first main photo: FA-0805S2-B Fixed orifice shock absorber with 5mm stroke MC25L Self-Compensating shock abs with 1/4 stroke (low resistance for lighter objects or minimal mass inertia) MC25 Self-Compensating shock abs with 1/4 stroke MC25H-1640 Self-Compensating ALL STAINLESS STEEL "special" shock abs with 1/4 stroke (high resistance) MC25L Self-Compensating shock abs with 3/8 stroke (light resistance or low mass inertia) FA-1008P1-B Fixed orifice shock absorber with 8mm stroke FA-1010K2 Fixed orifice shock absorber with 8mm stroke (high resistance) FA-1010K1 Fixed orifice shock absorber with 8mm stroke (low resistance) MC75 Self-Compensating shock abs with 3/8 stroke (medium resistance) MC75 Self-Compensating shock abs with 3/8 stroke (medium resistance) MC75H Self-Compensating shock abs with 3/8 stroke (high resistance) FA-1210M-B Manually adjustable shock absorber with 10mm stroke FA-1010D2 Fixed orifice shock absorber with 8mm stroke (medium resistance) Two plastic dampers (part numbers unknown) that use an internal spring to dampen instead of hydraulic fluid (very low resistance) The Self-Compensating series (which has a prefix of MC) has a patented internal orifice design to "automatically" adjust to the amount of load and impact velocity for the best linear deceleration curve. The manually adjustable series (FA-1210M-B ONLY) has a dial or turn-screw to change the orifice diameter to the desired deceleration rate curve.
