CAT III-600 Volts ac & dc Pollution degree : 2 Digital clamp meter measures alternating current (AC) to 600 amp, direct current (DC) voltage and AC voltage to 600 volts (V), capacitance to 3,000 microfarads, resistance to 40 megaohms, and frequency to 100 kilohertz Average-sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform Transformer clamp with 1" (26 mm) jaw opening has jaws that are slimmer than standard clamp jaws, for improved access to tight areas, and measures current without touching or interrupting the circuit A relative zero mode stores a reading in memory to use as a zero point for subsequent readings Meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 600V Product Description The Amprobe ACD-10 Plus digital clamp meter is an average-sensing, auto-ranging multimeter for measuring current, voltage, capacitance, resistance, and frequency in electrical testing applications. It has a transformer clamp that measures alternating current (AC) to 600 amp and frequency to 100 kilohertz (kHz), and it comes with detachable test leads that measure direct current (DC) voltage and AC voltage to 600 volts (V), capacitance to 3,000 microfarads, resistance to 40 megaohms, and frequency to 100 kHz. The clamp has two 0.4" (10 mm) thick jaws that are slimmer than standard clamp jaws for improved access to tight areas. The jaws can close around electrical conductors up to 1" (26 mm) in diameter to measure current without touching or interrupting the circuit. A relative zero mode stores a reading in memory to use as a zero point for subsequent readings, allowing for quick comparison of multiple readings. The maximum reading mode displays the highest reading in a session to track a sudden increase in measurements. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity, and a diode test detects whether a circuit’s diodes are working properly. The hold function keeps the reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. The unit automatically turns off after 30 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. A finger guard on the body of the meter helps protect fingers from shock. This average-sensing, or average-responding, meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform. It is an auto-ranging multimeter and automatically selects the correct operating range for the property being measured. The meter has a 4,000-count resolution, meaning that it can display up to 3,999 units (3-3/4 digits) before the operating range needs to be changed. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply). The unit comes with a soft vinyl carrying case. Specifications Maximum alternating current (AC) input 600 amp Maximum AC voltage input 600 volts (V) Maximum direct current (DC) voltage input 600V Maximum resistance detected 40 megaohms Maximum capacitance detected 3,000 microfarads Maximum frequency detected 100 kilohertz (kHz) Power supply 3V IEC-CR2032 coin battery (one, installed) Standards met and certifications European Normal (EN); International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and EN safety standard 61010-1; European Conformity (CE); and Australia N10140 certified Weight 4.9 oz./139 g Meter dimensions 7.4 x 2.5 x 1.3 inches/190 x 63 x 32 mm (H x W x D) H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. Clamp meters (also called clamp-on meters) measure electrical current without cutting through wires or touching or interrupting the electrical circuit. Available in handheld or benchtop models, clamp meters diagnose problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. The meter's current clamp has two jaws that fit around a conductor to take measurements. All clamp meters test for current. Some come with test leads and inputs for measuring voltage, capacitance, and resistance. They display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages determine meter choice. Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating. Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA. What’s in the Box?ACD-10 Plus average-sensing digital clamp multimeter (1) Test lead set (1) 3V coin battery (installed) Soft vinyl carrying case Instructions From the Manufacturer The Amprobe ACD-10-PLUS 600A Clamp-On Multimeter offers thinner jaws over other standard clamp meters allowing access to tight measurement areas and still accommodating conductors up to 25 mm. It also measures capacitance and frequency. Frequency is measured by either jaws or test leads. It features a continuity buzzer, in rush current, auto ranging, auto power off and overload protection. The Amprobe ACD-10-PLUS 600A Clamp-On Multimeter includes the test leads, batteries, a soft carrying pouch and the users manual. Amprobe® began life in Long Island, NY in the late 1940's under the name Pyramid Instrument Company. In 1960 the company name was formally changed to Amprobe Instrument Corporation. Amprobe® continued to design, engineer, manufacture and distribute product from its Lynbrook, NY location until it was merged to form ATP and relocated to South Florida in late 1999.
