Amprobe PM55A Pocket Multimeter with Non-Contact Voltage Detection The Amprobe PM55A digital multimeter with built-in non-contact voltage detector is an average-sensing, auto-ranging meter for measuring voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and microcurrent in electrical testing applications. The attached test leads measure alternating current (AC) voltage and direct current (DC) voltage to 600 volts (V), resistance to 6 megaohms, capacitance to 2,000 microfarads, frequency to 30 kilohertz (kHz), and microcurrent to 2,000 microamp. The meter has a non-contact voltage detector that senses AC voltage without touching or interrupting the circuit. The meter measures 4.4 x 2.1 x 0.4 inches (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right and D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back), and it can be carried in a shirt pocket when not in use. The microamp reading identifies current changes in flame detector applications. The meter automatically selects AC voltage, DC voltage, or resistance function based on input. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity, and a diode test detects whether the circuit's diodes work properly. An auto power-off mode turns off the unit after 10 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. This average sensing, or average responding, meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform. It is an auto-ranging meter and automatically selects the correct operating range for the property being measured. The meter has a 6,000-count (3-5/6 digit) liquid crystal display (LCD) that can display up to 5,999 units before the operating range needs to be changed. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category II installations up to 600V (which covers large household appliances and devices connected to a fixed power supply, such as refrigerators and air conditioners), and category III installations up to 300V (which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations, such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply). It comes with a silicone holster and a soft, zippered carrying case.SpecificationsMaximum alternating current (AC) microcurrent2,000 microampMaximum direct current (DC) microcurrent2,000 microampMaximum AC voltage input600 volts (V)Maximum DC voltage input600VNon-contact voltage detection range20 to 285VMaximum resistance detected6 megaohmsMaximum capacitance detected2,000 microfaradsMaximum frequency detected30 kHzPower supply3V IEC-CR2032 or ANSI-NEDA-5004LC button battery (one, installed)Standards metEuropean Conformity (CE) International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and European Normal (EN) safety standard 61010-1 N10140 Australia Underwriters Laboratories (UL)Weight3 oz./78 gMultimeters are electrical test meters that measure multiple properties of an electrical circuit, such as current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and continuity. Available in handheld or benchtop models, multimeters diagnose electrical problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. A variety of probes, clamps, and leads can be used to connect the meter to a circuit or device. Multimeters display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages. Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA.Whats in the Box?Amprobe PM55A average-sensing digital multimeter(1) Set of test leads, attachedSilicone holsterCarrying case(1) 3V coin battery (installed)Instructions Product Features: Digital multimeter measures alternating current (AC) voltage and direct current (DC) voltage to 600 volts (V), resistance to 6 megaohms, capacitance to 2,000 microfarads, frequency to 30 kilohertz (kHz), and AC and DC microcurrent to 2,000 microamp Average-sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform Non-contact voltage detector senses AC voltage without making contact with the circuit Meter measures 4.4 x 2.1 x 0.4 inches (H x W x D) and can be carried in a shirt pocket when not in use Meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category II installations up to 600V and category III installations up to 300V Safety: CAT II 600 V,CAT III 300 V,Pollution Degree 2, Class 2 AutoTect feature directs the meter to know if it is measuring ac or dc volts or resistance with no user interface The AutoTect feature has lower input impedance which zeros out ghost voltages Voltect feature is a built-in, non-contact voltage detector Automatic Power Off  Important Information: We offer discounted rates for bulk purchases, please inquire.
