LeakTrac Offers Profit Generating Benefits Pool professionals in vinyl-liner pool areas know the importance of efficient time use. A few busy summer months are often responsible for the majority of service revenue these companies generate. Wasted time looking for problems can’t be tolerated, especially if the time spent can’t be billed because a leak is never found. Anderson’s LeakTrac Vinyl-Liner Leak Detector helps by making summer leak detection more profitable and allows leak detection revenues to begin coming in earlier in the spring and later into the winter. Because the LeakTrac finds vinyl-liner leaks while the operator stands on the deck, time consuming visual inspections of the liner by a SCUBA diver are no longer necessary. “I used to spend thousands of dollars every summer on SCUBA divers,” says James Eiler of Aqua Pools in Oak Lawn, IL. “Now I find them by myself and charge what a SCUBA diver would have cost. The difference is that I’m in and out in half the time a diver takes to inspect the whole pool.” Although an underwater patch still has to be made, most operators find that this can be done without tanks. Often, once leaks are marked, pool owners are satisfied to make patches themselves the next time they go into the pool. Since leaks can be found without getting in the pool, leak detection revenue can be generated in times of the year when the water is just too cold for a diver to enter. “We expect a rush of leak calls in the fall,” says Walter Van Shaik of Accurate Leak Detection in Cincinnati, OH. “People aren’t using their pools as much, so water loss they now notice can’t be attributed to splash out or evaporation. The LeakTrac will allow us to solve many problems that we may have been tempted to put off until next year when the water is warmer.” Diving into an unheated pool in October or November isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. Neither is diving into an untreated pool. Many users report finding leaks in pools covered with algae. Visual inspections in such a pool would be virtually impossible not to mention unhealthy. In addition to generating leak detection revenue the LeakTrac is a great tool for selling replacement liners. While a diver may be tempted to quit after finding and patching several leaks in a pool, the LeakTrac can cover the whole pool rather quickly locating multiple pinhole leaks that are difficult to see. “Usually when a pool owner sees you point to 15 to 20 different places on the liner where the LeakTrac goes crazy he realizes that a new liner is a smart move,” says Brent Winitoy of Aqua Fun Pools in Vancouver Island, B.C. Whatever the benefit, the new LeakTrac is a product very capable of helping the pool professional turn vinyl-liner leaks from headaches into profits. For more information on the LeakTrac
