This is a "Star" metal lathe made by the Seneca Falls Company in New York. This lathe is over 100 years old and is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Everything pictured is included in this sale, including the drip-feed bearing oiler, most of the major original components, and the rolling cart it has been mounted to. Every component has been kept well-lubricated and adjusted, so the spindle, carriage, tailstock, and screw-cutting components turn freely and engage smoothly. This lathe was originally designed to run by overhead common shaft or pedal power, so it does not come with an electric motor. As far as I can tell, the only components missing are the countershaft behind the spindle, the collection of spare screw-cutting gears, and the original toolpost. The replacement toolpost has an aftermarket knob that has disintegrated from zinc pest, but this is easily replaceable. In addition, some extra holes have been drilled into the legs to mount braces to. There is one crack in the leg which is pictured. None of the pedal-components were included with this when found. This lathe is an excellent example of a high-quality machine from the turn of the last century, and because of its robust design, would make an excellent addition to anything from a hobbyist's machine shop to a museum.
