When ARMA FOIL™ is installed in a house attic or attached to the roof rafters in a commercial building, it will block 95% of the radiant heat from the sun from entering the home or building. A Little Physics - Double Sided Radiant Barrier There are two properties of Radiant Barriers which make them effective at stopping radiant heat. First, because the foil is reflective, it reflects the heat on the hot side. Second, since the foil has a low emissivity value of 0.05, it doesn't emit heat on the cold side. In order to benefit from both of these important properties, you must have foil on both sides of the material. A study by a Texas A&M University Professor demonstrated that double sided radiant barrer was nearly twice as effective at blocking heat as the single sided type. If you buy radiant barrier from somewhere else, make sure that it is double sided (you should see foil on both sides) for maximum effectiveness.
