ADA Ramps – Cheapest Every sidewalk curb ramp, or ADA ramp, in the United States, when newly built or part of an alteration project, requires the installation of a truncated dome detectable warning surface. This may seem like an incredible large scale expense, but the importance of a tactile warning device which can be relied upon by visually impaired pedestrians to facilitate safe travel is immeasurable. Compare the cost of installing truncated domes to the hundreds of lives saved each year by detectable warnings and their ability to alert the visually impaired to potentially fatal hazards. The cost is justifiable, especially when it is possible to supply fully compliant detectable warnings at the very low installed price of $200 each. Armor-Tile’s Cast In Place system allows you to install ADA ramps the cheapest possible. The polymer composite detectable warning system is pressed into freshly poured cement in just five minutes leaving a pre-manufactured, 100% compliant, truncated dome surface. At a material price of $24 per square foot, a typical 24”x48” Cast In Place panel will amount to $192. Factoring in five minutes of labor at an assumed wage rate of $30 per hour, each tile will take $2.50 to install. Material and labor together amount to less than $200.
