These are great handcuffs! They are a returned item and were missing the key. So I ordered 2 replacement keys to go along with the cuffs. These have the yellow pawl that indicates if they are locked or not. I believe if you see the yellow indicator, it means the handcuffs are NOT securely locked.  There are no signs of wear and seem to be very sturdy. Here's some info from ASP-USA website: ASP Chain Handcuffs with Tactical Security or European Pawl provide a major advance in both the desing and construction or wrist restraints. Frame geometry is the result of extensive computer modeling and simulation analysis. Strength potential has been maximized through use of an interlocking, unitized frame. The Lock Assembly is unitized and replaceable. The Tactical Chain Handcuff was designed in the field. Input came from officers and instructors. As a result, this ASP design incorporates the practical features most requested by officers on the street. The Tactical ASP Handcuffs feature a replaceable Lock Set Aluminum handcuffs weigh 15% less than steel models and are distinguished by their black bows. Length:  9.4" Width:  3.125" Weight:  7 ounces System:  Replaceable Lock Set Construction:  Overmolded stainless steel Edge Radius:  .035" minimum (1mm) Note: The buyer assumes ALL RESPONSIBILITY for legal use or possession of handcuffs.
