BEGA luminaires may be damaged if connected to conduit systems containing water - Article 300-5G of National Electric Code requires that “Conduits or raceways through which moisture may contact energized live parts shall be sealed or plugged at either or both ends”. 2. Luminaire is Non-IC rated. Insulation must be at least 3" from luminaire. 3. Suitable for installation in hollow wall construction or poured concrete construction. 4. Back housing provided with (2) 7/8" holes (horizontal entry) for 1/2" trade size conduit. NOTE: Internal components will not fit if conduit enters vertically.. 5. Back housing must be installed so that the front face is flush with the finished wall. 6. Suitable for through wiring: max. of (4) No. 12 AWG conductors (plus ground) rated for 90°C. 7. Suitable for wall applications only. (No ceiling and in-grade applications). 8. 50W T4 6.35 halogen lamp provided with luminaire. 1240 - installation: 1. The two piece mounting strap provided may be secured to the back of the fixture housing with the single #8 screw and washer provided. NOTE: The straps may be oriented horizontally or vertically by engaging two (2) of the four (4) studs on the rear of the housing. 2. Use the mounting straps to secure the fixture housing to structural members. 3. When housing installation is complete the underside of the flange must be even with the finished wall (Figure 1 and 2). 4. After wall is finished, place a small bead of silicone between the edge of the housing and the wall to provide a seal. 5. Remove the protective cardboard shield from the installed housing. 6. Make supply wire connection in housing to wire leads from ballast plate: MAIN VOLTAGE SUPPLY WIRE TO BLACK BALLAST WIRE NEUTRAL (COMMON) SUPPLY WIRE TO WHITE BALLAST WIRE GREEN GROUND WIRE TO GREEN BALLAST WIRE 7. Put wiring into the back of the housing and secure the ballast plate inside the housing using the (2) #6 screws provided. NOTE: Position ballast plate so that the “DOWN” label is properly oriented. 8. Install the reflector using the single captive screw provided. 9. Install socket guard using the single captive screw provided. 10. Install lamp (provided). 11. Install faceplate assembly using the 4mm hex screw. Tighten evenly (Figure 3), making sure that gasket is seated properly. Do not overtighten. Relamping/Maintenance Undo faceplate screws and remove faceplate assembly. Relamp. Clean luminaire and lens using only solvent-free cleansers. Replace faceplate assembly.
