Ensure you are working with a 4’ (48-inch) standard Fluorescent Light Fixture. Note: your fixture may have more than one tube installed, and may or may not have a starter. 2. 2. Your fixtures must be equipped with standard non-shunted lampholders (each lampholder has two wires connected to it). 3. Each T8 LED light tube works independently. You can decide the number of the LED tube(s) you want to install in a fixture. Non-Shunted Lampholders vs Shunted Lampholders Non-Shunted Lampholders: Non-shunted means that the contacts in the lamp holder are not bridged (shorted) and two different signals can be sent to the pins independently. Shunted Lampholders: Shunted means that the contacts in the lamp holder are bridged (shorted) and only one signal can be sent to the pins. You can test your lampholders type by using your voltage meter. Some are easy to identify by the number of wires accepted into the base of the socket. Shunted lampholders will accept two wires and non-shunted tombstones will accept 4 wires.
