This is a high-quality precision caliper in excellent condition with significant historical value as well.  This item was used in Project Gemini at the Martin Marietta plant in Baltimore, Maryland in the 1960's.  This is evidenced by the printing in white lettering on the end of the wooden storage case, the metal tag and yellow calibration sticker on the storage case, and the repair tag included in the case.  The Gemini project was a milestone in American history, as the Gemini succeeded the Mercury project and was the predecessor to the Apollo project that ultimately led to the successful lunar landing. This item was part of an inventory purchased for liquidation from a closed retail outlet.  We believe they acquired the item from an auction of surplus equipment directly from Martin Marietta, and the caliper assembly appears to have had little or very light use over the last several decades.  It appears to be in excellent condition with no corrosion or wear visible.  The wood case is in good condition on the inside with no damage evident, although the outside shows signs of its age.
