The B&K calibrator is a pocket sized sound source designed for accurate everyday calibration of sound level meters using 1/2 in. and 1 inch microphones. You will receive the Bruel & Kjaer calibrator with the DB3011 adapter in place. To use the calibrator with a 1” microphone, you will first need to remove the adapter. This is done easily by pulling it from the calibrator with the help of your fingernails in the groove. The groove is readily seen in the last photograph. In the photos you will see that there is a note inside the cover of each calibrator. The note reads, “. . . for free-field corrected microphones Adjust to 93.6 dB for type 4117, 4131 and 4135, and to 93.8 dB for type 4133 and 4146. . .” This small correction is necessary to compensate for the difference between free-field response at 0° incidence and the pressure response. No correction is required when calibrating pressure response microphones. There are two of these available, one with a brown leather case and the other a black case. Whoever purchases the first one can choose the color they want. If no choice is made, they will receive the brown one. Both of the calibrators are in excellent condition with no visible marks on the body and each has been fitted with a new battery. Each of them has a minor cosmetic issue with the leather case. The brown one has a darkened area where a label was once attached and on the black one, the leather is soft and its upper edge tends to roll slightly. These are both visible in the photographs. The first 5 photos are of the brown one, 6 thru 10 are of the black one and no. 11 is to show the groove between the adapter and the calibrator. Before buying this item, please make sure it is compatible with your equipment.
