Introducing the MESR-100 Capacitance Meter with LCD Display and AutoRang feature, capable of measuring capacitors from 0.001 to 100.0R with in circuit testing support. This meter uses a true 100 KHz sine wave to accurately measure the ESR value, similar to how capacitor manufacturers test their products. The square wave is changed to a sine wave at 100 KHz to minimize high-frequency components that may affect testing accuracy. The MESR-100 also features a manual or auto range mode, one key zero for canceling wire resistance, and a backlight on the LCD screen. It operates on 2 AA 1.5V batteries or external power using a 5V micro USB. It's important to note that accuracy may be affected by the length of test leads and contact point resistance. Prior to testing, please discharge the capacitor first using a screwdriver to short circuit or connect a resistor around 10ohm for 5-10 seconds. The meter has 2 fast diodes built-in to protect against high voltage, but discharging the capacitor first is essential to prevent damage to the meter. Equipped with an embedded 25V capacitor table at the LCD display, this meter can auto display whether the capacitor is good or bad, using a common 25V electrolytic capacitor as a reference. A bad E-capacitor will create a large ripple, rather than filter noise, and typically have an ESR larger than 3 ohms. This in circuit testing capability can be especially useful in repairing TV, LCD, audio boards, and other electronic equipment.
