The thickness levels are designated as 4/4, 5/4, 6,4, and so on, with each "Quarter" representing one inch. When measuring a board in inches, you can calculate its board feet by multiplying the length by the width and dividing by 144. I specialize in thin wood supplies, ranging from 1/16" to 1/2" thick. My stock includes Aspen, Black Walnut, Black Cherry, Red Oak, White Oak, Maple, Poplar, Alder, Red and Grey Elm, White Ash, Purpleheart, Bloodwood, Knotty Pine, Mahogany, and others. Please note that thickness is unimportant for square foot measurement. A ripping cut is a lengthwise cut on a board, while a cross cut goes across the board's width.
