Machine Configuration: It is possible to configure this machine with either two or three spindles. In effect it operates like an tool changer machine, but by changing spindles rather than changing tools. A moving gantry machine minimizes floor space, and the closed loop servo drives deliver fast and precise motion. Machine Construction: The SHARP Series machines are built to a “machine tool” standard. Welded tubular steel machine base and bridge are designed to maintain squareness and perpendicularity without the need for periodic corrections. High quality centrally lubricated linear guides are used to provide smooth motion. The X and Y axis use high quality helical rack and pinion systems to convert the power of the servo motors into linear motion. Helical racks and pinions are zero backlash to insure the accuracy of each cut. The gantry is driven from each side utilizing a dual set of servos and gearing. The Z axis uses an anti-backlash ball screw, whick is also tied into the lubrication system. The Work Surface: is machined into a grid pattern that spreads the vacuum across the full table area. The area can be divided into any size and shape vacuum zone by using the provided vacuum gasket cord. The table also includes 4 pop up locators for position of sheet stock. A 7.5 HP high pressure vacuum pump is included. The spindles used are three 8 HP ELTE Italian Spindles. The rpm range is from 6,000 – 24,000 and is fully programmable within the spindle range. It is extremely well balanced and is nearly silent in operation. The CNC control is a OSAI Industrial controller made in Taiwan. It fully supports the closed loop positioning of the machine and includes functions like tool radius and length compensation. On the fly override for machine feed and spindle speed is standard.
