CVC - Consolidated Vacuum Corporation Vacuum  Chamber These systems were originally modified CVC-18 evaporators - They were custom configuration sputtering tools - set up as post magnetron chrome sputtering systems.  They were used by a mask maker for putting chrome on mask blanks. The rings around the chamber were for creating a magnetic field.  Internally, in the center of the chamber, was a "post", or cylinder of chrome, which was used to sputter chrome around the outside of the chamber - where the substrates were vertically hung on fixtures. The top of the chamber would be lifted off with the chamber hoist so the fixtures and coated substrates  could be removed, and a new lot of fixtures/substrates could be loaded. The original DC power supplies are no longer with the tools - nor are other external controls. What remains is the basic pumping stack - consisting of a 6" CVC diffusion pump, and a matching multicoolant baffle (can be used with LN2, Water, etc.), as well as the baseplate, stainless chamber - about 18" x 30", removable chamber top, chamber hoist, and associated instrumentation as seen in the photos. We have sold a number of these systems to groups who wish to work with a basic vacuum system that they intend to modify for their own purposes - including folks who were working with superconducting materials. We will guarantee the basic integrity of the primary components, including the diffusion pump, baffle, etc. Most of these systems were in use at the time the facility was shut down, and the basic functionality should still be intact. Please note, however, that these systems have been in storage for over a decade.  (Storage was temperature controlled.) The sales price of $3,000. is basically less than the component value of the primary items, and naturally, there is a limit as to how much support we can provide at this price point - however, be assured that we will stand behind the basic components. We would like these systems to find use redeployed as building blocks for other projects in R&D, etc.  Please contact us if you have any questions about the above, or if you would like to have additional photos or other information.
