The booklet also displays the available designs for wooden blinds and built-in ironing boards. The booklet measures 8 1/2" H x 5" W and came from Texas, as indicated by the cities listed on the back cover. The booklet is illustrated with beautiful and captivating photos, randomly chosen to showcase the fascinating ladder designs used in old hotels and office buildings, mirrors used in older homes, and even phone nooks! The booklet showcases a vast range of stylish choices that were popular in old homes, and after reading it, I can now accurately date those homes based on their designs. Although it is previously owned, it provides a diverse and accurate insight into what was offered in the millwork and building material industry, including who the providers were and where they were located. As a virtual time machine, a visit to our past has never been more fascinating, and every time I look through it, I discover something new and captivating. These cities include Abilene, Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, Harlingen, Houston, Lubbock, Lufkin, Odessa, San Angelo, San Antonio, Texarkana, Tyler, Wichita Falls, and Altus, Oklahoma. Despite its condition, with stains and water circles throughout, it is a compelling read that offers an insight into our past. The IDEAL Pocket Manual for Contractors and Craftsman on Millwork and Building Materials, circa 1945, is a vintage and authentic source that I discovered in the foundation of a demolished old home. It is a historical record of the design and building trades, and the information within is presented in an easy-to-understand manner.
