Here’s a very unique piece. This machine was built exclusively to make custom rosettes – FAST. It is surplus from a custom interior millwork shop that closed. Basically, a Porter Cable 1002 / 22,000 RPM Router is attached to a Thompson Linear Ball Bearing, vertical slide actuated by a Speedaire Air Cylinder to yield a smooth, regulated plunge. The workpiece is held to a 15” dia. rotating turntable with an adjustable, fast acting, clamping jig. The turntable is variable speed and driven by a Dayton Gearmotor and Speed Control. The whole cycle is automatic once the operator presses the “2” cycle start buttons - all motion stops and router returns “up” upon release of buttons. Very nicely made – definitely the work of a machine builder. I know cause I am one. Check out the picture of the “underneath” – The turntable is attached to a 1 1/2 ” dia. vertical shaft supported by two, big, pillow block bearings and driven by the variable speed gearmotor’s pulley at the bottom. The router “slide” assembly is adjustable horizontally to determine diameter of rosette produced and adjustable vertically to control the depth of cut / router plunge. Equipped with safety guards (removed for some pics.) and double operator push button cycle interlock.
