NEW IMPROVED VERSION - SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE This new version features a spiral in the air intake, a parabolic body and an improved dust bin exhaust port. These enhancements improve the cyclone's efficiency and avoid the stagnation of particles in the upper part of the cyclone. A tapered exhaust port flange that fits through the collection container lid makes the use of an inner flange unnecessary when using metal or sufficiently resilient plastic lids. A template (pictured), for cutting and drilling the collection container lid, and stainless steel fixing screws and washers are included. Features: spiral air intake – quickly establishes a downward flow pattern alleviating the previous models tendency to have particles stagnate in the upper part of the cyclone larger outlet in to the collection bin (66mm, old model 60mm) – improves particle entry in to the bin and better separates the incoming and outgoing airflows leading to greater capture of dust and cleaner outward airflow parabolic body shape – dust falls more quickly and loses more velocity than in previous straight sided model leading to greater capture of dust and cleaner outward airflow manufacturer claims improved efficiency of 10 - 30%, energy consumption reduction of 20% and minimum 99% particle capture. WHAT IT DOES The cyclone is designed as a pre-filter for your vacuum cleaner. It has no moving parts, and nothing to wear out, clog up or replace. When fitted to a sealed collection container up to 99% of debris is caught before reaching the vacuum cleaner filter. No more loss of suction from blocked filters; no more buying expensive vacuum bags. Ideal for woodworking and plastic and aluminium machining.   HOW TO HOOK IT UP The collection container can be a round plastic or steel drum with a tight fitting lid (air leaks will reduce efficiency). Using the template you will need to cut a central hole and drill four holes for the fixing screws in the container lid. Seal the cyclone to the lid with some silastic and screw through the container lid and in to the cyclone using the supplied stainless steel screws and washers. Ensure that the cyclone base protrudes through the lid and that any nibs of plastic on the inside of the base that might affect smooth airflow are removed.   SEE IT IN ACTION See here for a video of the same unit under another brand name in operation Dust Cyclone . TESTIMONIALS Grant from Sale says, "Short version is that I'm just gobsmacked at how effective they are.....The shop vacs are the type with the cylindrical cartridge about 15x18cm covered in folded paper/card. Both cartridges used to clog fairly quickly with the finest wood dust. When I say clog, I mean that the V folds would be completely filled. Now that the cyclones are fitted, the shop vac filters are hardly contaminated.....Fitting to a plaster-bucket type container was easy. I used different types of plumbing fittings to adapt vac hoses I already had but, once again, fairly easy. So all in all I'm pretty happy." Bruce from Sale says, "The dust extractor certainly doesn't require a water bath or similar. Have used this on my thicknesser, which gives off plenty of wood shavings and my band saw which produces a lot of very fine sawdust .........Would certainly recommend this cyclone, works better than advertised." Bruce was considering using a water bath to catch the finer dust but found it unnecessary.   If you use a shop vacuum you need one of these, you will not believe how well it works and the time and effort it will save you!   Nominal dimensions: Inlet and outlet outer diameter : 55mm (2 3/16") Inlet and outlet inner diameter : 50mm (2" approx) Overall height : 310mm (12 1/4") Cyclone Base (ID/OD) : 65 / 96mm (2 9/16" / 3 25/32")   Because of the variability of the connection fittings used on shop and domestic vacuum devices I do not sell any adaptors for connecting the cyclone. However, a stroll through the plumbing section of your local hardware store or pool shop should provide the connectors required for your particular installation. The plumbing adaptor pictured (rubber 40-50 PVC joiner - ID 44-55) joined my domestic vacuum hose to the cyclone perfectly. I used a pool cleaner hose for the inlet side of the cyclone - a firm push in fit. If you are prepared to have a look around I am confident you will find the pieces you need.
