Early 1900s Bainbridge SPECIAL Automatic Hand Numbering Machine, with original wooden box. This hand numberer is marked: Bainbridge SPECIAL SET 1 CONSECUTIVE " 2 DUPLICATE " 3 REPEAT MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 27, '91 - PAT. SEP. 29, 1910 On the other side of the hand numberer is an impressed number "248154", likely a serial number. This old numbering machine looks complete but could use a cleaning. The six numbering wheels look like they rotate, but when stamped the numbers do not appear to advance. Note the three settings for consecutive, duplicate, and repeat numbering - there is a 1,2,3 numbered piece (see picture), with holes, on one side of the stamp and a pin that pulls out and fits into one of these holes for this numbering setting. The dovetailed wooden box is very worn, with a sliding lid. The box measures 6 1/2 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide, and 2 5/8 inches high. There are worn and partially missing paper labels on three sides of the box and one on the lid. The lid has "IMPORTANT To the Users ..." information. The box has (partially missing) "DIRECTIONS" on one side, "OUR GUARANTEE" on the other side, and "Bainbridge SPECIAL Automatic STEEL WHEEL Hand Numberer STYLE" on one end. All in all, this is a very interesting and unique early 1900s hand numbering machine, with original wooden box. As always, we are dedicated to providing customer service.
