This is in near perfect condition. It was certified by Eberline in 2014; which I presume is their equivalent of calibration. These are all digital; and carry manny benefits over analog instruments. The pictures show me selecting one of the three probes which I have already programmed in. It allows me to set the voltage to this probe, but the voltage was already correct because the instrument remembered it. It shows me setting dead time, which is already remembered, and most importantly, calibration constant. When you know the efficiency of a probe and set the calibration constant appropriately, you are doing something which many professional users can't do on their equipment. You get real measurement, in decays per second. I'm not sure how much more I need to stress the importance of absolute user control which is given with this meter. There are dozens of other functions, including the most advanced scaling system I am familiar with, employee management features, and dozen of other things which make this quite possibly the most underrated meters on the market. It reads in scientific notation in CPM, DPM, Sv/hr, Gy/hr, REM/hr RAD/hr, R/hr, and also does the milli, micro, nano plus hour, minute, second an Bq equivalents of all the readings, i.e. mR/hr, nSv/hr, count per second, and when the constant is set, Bequerels. It becomes second nature to read it pretty quickly. Far as user programmability and absolute control over function, it is top notch. It does connect to the computer through a terminal for bath exchange, but it's not reliant on the computer for programming like the wired programming meters (E600, ASP-2, etc.) This is entirely user defined. You tell this counter what to do via its computer interface (the six buttons on the front), you can do amazing things that no other system will allow without an external computer controlling it. I have used one of these as a portal monitor for a lab over the last 7 years in constant use with dual 750V PMTs on Bicron 414 material slabs. It continued through power outages with its battery backup (if you install one; there is space for it and leads plus a float charge circuit). It does its job well and goes off whenever there's even a slight amount of contamination at the front entrance/exit where no materials go in or out. If you want an E600 but can't afford the couple of grand you would have to sink in to it, buy this. You don't need a host computer, all programming takes place on the meter. And much like the e600, you can store up to 512 measurement points in memory then access them for printing. There are four levels of user modes, designed for progressive feature use by employees. I just leave it at level four because it isn't being used for spot measurements. Use ANY probe you want. It handles all probes flawlessly. I have a few of these, you will be receiving the unit pictured. The backup battery is nearly dead (it runs for up to 24 hours or more on a newly charged SLA battery!), so I will start replacing those soon as a I get another sale and have a few bucks to do so. It's the 1.1 amp 6 volt SLA battery, so you can either buy one on eBay along with this and DIY or ask me if I've installed the backups yet. Absolutely amazing performance and programmability for the price. These have a couple of grand worth of features in a 400 dollar meter. Enjoy! -Enjoy!
