Note: this sale includes the following: 1. One smart cable for the E600, five feet long. 2. One brand new programmable SmartPAC smart probe adapter for the E600. 3. One BNC male to BNC male coupler (so the probe can be used normally without the SmartPAC sticking out. 4. Two twist-on Amphenol Suretwist BNC connectors, which will allow you to make two 3 foot cords out of one 6 foot cord, each with a BNC connector on one end and MHV connector at the other, for this setup or any other (I love doing that; BNC to MHV cords are like 40 bucks each on their own.) This combination makes probe use just as easy as any other counter, because the SmartPAC adapted will not be sticking out from the probe. SmartPACs are programmable devices which allow use of "dumb" probes (those are Eberline's words, not mine). They are programmable to all parameters that the smart probes contain, and allow for use of probes that are otherwise unusable with this meter. For example, I have included a picture of an HP-270 probe being used. Like the ESP-2 and ASP-2 meters, ALL probe settings and even non-probe related settings of the meter (to exactly what you specify on the software including voltage, dead time, constants a myriad of compensation factors, comprehensive settings for the E600s settings for the 3 channel analyzer, calibration constant. The smartPAC also sets whatever you choose in regard to measurement units (selectable between DPM, DPS, CPM, CPS, mR/hr, automatically scaled R/hr, uSv/hr, auto scaled Sv/hr or Gy/hour, or cumulative dose equivalent for use with the scaler or integrated functions. It offers multiple configurations of the meter by pressing a button (with total precision too, for example: the built in HV regulator can specify 1031 volts or 1032 volts, however you set it in the smartPAC, for unparalleled consistency with voltage dependent scintillation probes) and name or designation of probe being used. It gives the user a degree of computer-defined control and calibration factors that no other meter can offer. The meter and probe shown in the pictures are not included in the sale and are included for demonstration purposes only. The new BNC SmartPAC adapters aren't programmed for any specific probes, as they are new, the cable is used and works perfectly. Please carefully evaluate this rare; almost impossible combination of cable and SmartPAC, both so you know how truly valuable it is, and so you can shop around if you desire to do so. These are absolutely impossible to find, which is a shame, because the E600 meters are great. I have an extremely limited stock of cables and programmable connectors, as I use these. There is no reason to spend several hundred dollars (up to 1500???) on even a flawlessly working and calibrated E600 unless it has this cable included. It is a paperweight without them. Even if you just buy the cable alone, it will only work with Eberline "smart probes", which cost as much as the meters by themselves. The SmartPAC BNC programmable connector allows the user to program various parameters of any probe (up to three different configurations for each probe) and is easily adaptable for MHV or Ludlum "C" connectors, etc. with a simple inexpensive adapter. It's a plug-and-play sort of thing. The meter sets voltage, gain, dead time, and any other correction factors the moment you plug in the SmartPAC unit to the smart cable. There are so many E-600 meters bouncing around from person to person on the net, and if you have ever purchased a working one that doesn't come with a cable, you undoubtedly know how frustrating it is to have such a marvelous piece of technology that is capable of replacing every single other meter you have, then finally having to give up and sell it because it is truly useless without the cable. Ironic that it's called a smart cable, am I right? I have searched extensively and found just one company on the net that sells used smart cables and used SmartPAC connectors, the combination is approximately $500-600. Thermo-Fisher has been out of stock for a long time, although they do sell the computer interface adapter, at least as of August when I last contacted them. The coupler and connectors will help a lot as well. Thanks, and enjoy!
