There was enough room for both of my feet and it is light and flat enough to fit in the outside zipped space of my carry-on. I used it on two 11 hour flights in coach and it saved me from the usual back pain I experience since my feet don't touch the floor. I would recommend this footrest for anyone who is short like me and struggles sitting for long periods trying to touch the floor on tip toes. There is a minimal effort to balance the footrest at some angles, but that can be eliminated if you prop it against something. I used my carry on bag under the seat on front of me as a stopping point so I could sleep. That is a small price to pay for the portability and handy solution of the lower back pain. I can't think of any other way to improve the design and still keep the portability factor. I have looked at other models and you can only put one foot on them. My first airplane trip with this was wonderful, both for the time waiting around for the plane and on the plane. It was the most comfortable flight in a really long time. The footrest fit great on the floor of the DC9 but was too bulky for the small ERJ. Of course anything larger than a bug is too bulky for the ERJ. It also works well at church where the pews are really uncomfortable. I can attend services now without being in pain by the end. I plan to use this in the Spring when I go back to school as well.
