Fabric zoom printer Condition is "Used". Purchased end of 2019 on Ebay in used working condition. I do not know if anything is missing or has issues, but it has a lot of extra parts like reactive inks as shown in box. I was told it was working condition and had just been serviced by the factory. We got it around September 2019, and we planned to use it around January for printing blankets. Then the pandemic happened, and plans changed. We now just want it moved for the space. Will ship in box it came to us in. It came with lots of extras, but the black ink will not be included as it spilt in our warehouse. Below are more details on the printer. I did not use it, so I don't have any more information other than what I've noted. What can your printer kits do? FabricZoom printer kits are used to assemble modular, direct-to-fabric, wide-format printer systems designed for small business owners.  They print in CYMK (16 million+ colors) using several ink types to handle different materials.  Our printers are particularly good at handling certain difficult to print materials, including textured or thick fabrics, embroidered materials, and stretchy fabrics.   Is this like a sublimation printer? No – our printers are all direct-to-fabric.  This means that there is no sublimation or transfer step where you transfer the ink from paper to fabric. How large is the printer?  What do I need for a print space? The 57” printer is 68” wide, and just under 12” deep.  You will need a 6ft table to house it, and we recommend an 8ft table so that the ink modules can be right next the printer and on the same level.  The table should be solid to prevent rocking during printing, but most non-folding worktables are sufficient.  If you plan to print from a bolt, then a bolt holder is recommended.  Multiple bolt holders allow you to have multiple bolts on hand and switch quickly. We recommend access from both the rear of the table (to load fabric) and the front (to unload it). With a Platen attachment (not included), the table must be at least 3ft deep.   How fast does it print? They Maximum print speed is about 3 square yards per hour, depending on ink use, image complexity and quality settings.  The main limiting factor for print speed is the thickness of the fabric, with heavy upholstery fabrics taking longer to print on due to the greater volume of ink that needs to be dispensed.  Slowing the print speed will also improve print quality.  When They designed our printer for small business owners, They found that most of our users only planned to print a few yards per day.  Most wide-format printers can produce 20-40 yards per hour, which would have meant they sit idle for most small business owners.  Lowering the print speed was the major way we reduced the cost of the printer, while still matching the needs of our customers. What materials does it work on? For most users, we recommend our Pigment Ink.  This is very easy to use ink with a wide materials capability, including cotton, polyester, blends of the two, lycra or spandex, faux leather, and many more. They For users planning on working on wool, silk or nylon, They recommend our Acid Ink.   Finally, for users working with plant-based fibers (cotton, linen, rayon) with extreme washfastness needs, such as sportswear or napkins, we recommend our Reactive Ink.   What is required to set the ink? Pigment Ink requires a heat set, either from a heat press or an iron.  Acid and Reactive Inks require a steam set.  You will need a fabric steamer to work with these inks. They Reactive Ink requires a soak in our pre-treatment solution, but Pigment and Acid Ink do not.  If you read older articles about FabricZoom, if may refer to Reactive Ink as our only ink.  They have been offering Pigment Ink since December 2018 and it is currently our default recommended ink.   How much does the ink cost? Ink use depends greatly depending on material and the coverage or “fill” of the image.  For an example 6oz cotton with 50% coverage, one $40 bottle of ink will last about 100 square yards.  Thick materials, like upholstery fabrics, will require more ink and thin materials, like most silks, will require less.  In general, the major cost of fabric printing is the fabric itself. What do I need to be able to start printing? You can buy convenient bundles on Fabric Zoom’s webstore ([link removed by eBay]) that include mosTheyt of the things you need to get started, including ink.  You will need in addition: a work table, fabric, a computer (with an SD card reader) and an iron to start printing, though you will probably want more accessories later to improve print quality or production speed.  If you are using Acid or Reactive Ink, then you will need a fabric steamer.   What if there is a problem with the machine? Fabric Zoom notes that the printer is designed with modular systems, so in the event that something goes wrong, you can get a replacement module from them, and they can talk you through replacement by video chat.  In the event your problem can’t be resolved remotely, then the module can be shipped back to Fabric Zoom’s factory in Beaverton, Oregon for servicing. Do I have to use Fabric Zoom ink? No!  They have an Open Ink System, which means there are no chips or cartridges that force you to use their ink.  You can load ink from the bottle, or just refill our bottles.  Note that that the limited warranty on the system is voided if you use third-party inks, since they don’t know what is in them.  They only recommend that for Developers who understand ink chemistry, and they advise anyone planning to use third-party inks to budget for a replacement printhead in their planning in case their new ink does not work out. How do I learn to use the printer? Fabric Zoom offers free instructional videos as well as printed and online written instructions covering general use.  They also offer paid one-on-one training by video chat, which are available on our webstore under the Support section.  One-on-one training is not required, but is recommended, especially if you are having difficulty with your setup.  If you are concerned about whether you can setup the system, please watch the videos in the Instructions section of our website and judge for yourself whether they seem technically demanding.   Is maintenance difficult? They designed the printer to be friendly for small business owners, so most maintenance features are automatic.  Their printers go into Sleep Mode when not in use, during which they turn on and fire a tiny amount of ink every five minutes to keep the inkjets from clogging.  They also have a patented optical encoder system that automatically calibrates fabric movement so you don’t need to adjust the roller calibration for each fabric like you have to do with most textile printers.  Filters and valves are user-replaceable, and replacement valves and filters are covered during the warranty period.
