Summer 2013: Night Sky Printed 6/13, Edition size: 45,000 books   For Summer 2013, Field Notes released the nineteenth edition of Field Notes Colors notebooks. The “Night Sky” edition featured French Construction “Blacktop” covers, mapping out three sets of constellations that have graced the northern hemisphere summer sky long before “summer” was given a name.  Constellations and popular asterisms are highlighted in silver holographic foil.  Inside is Finch Opaque text paper, with a new “Reticle Graph,” sort of a hybrid of the popular dot-grid and graph papers. It’s all bound together with shiny black staples. The fourth release in Blackwing’s Volumes series, the Blackwing 24 features a new extra-firm graphite great for extended writing. You won’t find this graphite in any of the other Blackwing models. It’s slightly firmer than the graphite found in the Blackwing 602, without sacrificing much in the way of darkness. It also features a distraction-free black barrel, black imprint, black ferrule and black eraser.   The Blackwing 24 pays tribute to Pulitzer Prize winning author John Steinbeck. Designed under the guidance of his son Thomas Steinbeck, Blackwing has created what they believe would have been John's ideal pencil. Thom was adamant that his father would want it to be black, from barrel to eraser. It would also need to sharpen to a firm point without sacrificing much if any darkness . The Blackwing 24 is just that – an all-black pencil with a brand new graphite formulation perfect for extended writing.   For sale is a new Field Notes Night Sky Book 3: Late Summer (Summer 2013 Limited Edition) Notebook with Blackwing 24 Pencil!
