Fluke Networks Electrical Contractor Telecom Kit II with Pro3000 Analog Tone and Probe Kit and Case Product Description The Fluke Networks Electrical Contractor Telecom Kit II features a Pro3000 analog tone generator and probe plus accessories for testing, troubleshooting, and terminating wiring in telephone and data lines. The tone generator has ABN (angled bed-of-nails) clips and an RJ11 plug for connecting to inactive networks to locate and trace cables, wires, and wire pairs by sending a loud tone up to 16km (10 miles) in most cables and providing five distinct cadences for isolating individual wire pairs, and also checks continuity and polarity. Continuity and polarity are indicated by dual-color LEDs—red for continuity, and red and green for polarity of a DC-powered wire pair. The ABN clips allow access to individual wire pairs and the RJ11 plug connects to telephone jacks. The tone generator injects a tone, either constant or alternating, into a cable, and its SmartTone feature allows that tone to be modified to any of five distinct cadences for isolating individual wire pairs within a multi-pair cable. The probe detects the generated tone so that the cable can be located, and has an adjustable-volume speaker that amplifies the tone for tracing through drywall and wooden barriers such as walls and other enclosures. Its 3.5mm jack allows for an earphone (sold separately) to be attached, muting the speaker for discrete toning or toning in noisy environments. The nonmetallic tip of the probe enables testing in distribution blocks without disturbing other services and a spare tip is included inside the probe's battery compartment. Also included in the kit are a D814 punch-down tool that accepts industry standard blades and has an adjustable spring impact mechanism with high and low settings for performing reliable terminations; an EverSharp 66/110 cut blade that fits the punch-down tool; a cable stripper that scores, strips, and cuts round cables, UTP/STP telephone and data cables, and other flexible cables; a probe pic that separates and traces wires to check for loose or damaged connections; electricians' D-snips with forged steel blades and a handle design that increases force for clean cuts through up to 16-gauge solid and 12-gauge stranded wire, a notched blade for stripping 19- and 23-gauge wire, and a file and scraper on each blade for cleaning wire; and a standard 4-wire modular adapter for connecting to telephone jacks for testing line status without disrupting service. Additional specifications include various environmental operating conditions. This kit is used by network and telephone technicians to test and troubleshoot datacom and telecom cabling. Datacom and telecom installation and test devices, such as toners and test sets, check cabling and wiring to help ensure proper connections and operation. Tone generator and probe sets, also called toners, are used to locate, trace, and isolate cables in copper media networks. Telephone test sets, also called butt sets, are specialized telephones that connect to telephone lines to check for proper operation and to isolate trouble. Some test sets incorporate a TDR (time-domain reflectometer) and toner for determining cable length and locating faults. While certain devices may be used on live networks, others are only suitable for inactive networks. Field technicians and installers use these devices to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot datacom and telecom cabling within a building or in outside plant (OSP) applications. Fluke Networks manufactures tools for network infrastructure installation, testing, certification, and troubleshooting, in copper, fiber, and wireless networks, with its tools widely used by contractors, enterprises, and communication service providers. The company, which operates globally, is based in Everett, WA. What's in the Box?
