It is the smallest SBM-20 tube based Geiger counter will ever find as of now and is rugged enough to be used in harsh environment. It can be used alone in survey mode, as it have its own rechargeable battery built-in, using only a 3.5mm stereo or mono earphone directly plugged into it. You will ear the individual "click click" of the detected radiation particules. You can walk and use it covertly having the detector in your pocket, plugged in your earphone like your are listening to music. You will not attract attention and will be able to be alerted if you walk inside the field of scanning of one of those infamous X-Ray imaging gate or van. Can be very usefull for surveying food covertly at the grocery. Can be used, with an application provided by you (couple of choice available on internet), on iPhone and Android based smartphone, Tablet and PC. The internal rechargeable battery can power the unit under normal radiation level for months to year on a single charge. All the compatibilities problem associated with drawing power from smartphone is avoided. Charging using a USB port with the included 3.5mm adapter cable can be done overnight. A LED on the unit indicate the charge status. When ON, the unit is charging, OFF is charge complete. It is sensitive to X-Ray/Gamma and hard Beta radiation. About the small "plug like" radiation detectors based on semiconductor sensors (PIN diode) elsewhere on eBay, they are not sensitive enough and require holding it still for up to 15 minutes to get a decent reading. Our Geiger counter is based on a sensitive SBM-20 tube, survey can be done in real-time and precise reading obtained in less than 15 seconds depending on the integration setting you choose inside your selected application and the level of radiation. Even radiation detector based on large area PIN diode(s) are no match in sensitivity compared to our unit. The unit is splash proof, in fact it is completely waterproof and can be immersed as long the rear of the unit, having the connection jack and a battery vent, are not put in water. The unit is very lightweight, it is 35 grams. The casing of the unit, have been thinned to the maximum to avoid attenuation of low energy radiation, it is still rugged but allow some transparency effect (we see some of the internal circuits). A machining edge is present near the middle of the unit. This is by design and indicate the separation between the holding zone and the radiation sensitive zone.
