This straw holder is made out of very strong, thick glass. Possibly made out of the glass used during or soon after the Depression error. I am not an expert about these things, but I noticed a significant difference in the quality of glass used to make this one. Definitely not cheep or made of thin glass therefore much more sturdy and durable. The metal is well made too and should stand up against use longer than the newer ones. This glass, countertop straw holder is cylindrical in shape, and has a chrome- plated lid, which attaches to the metal base inside the straw holder, and pulls up the straws when the lid is lifted. This straw holder can store wrapped and unwrapped straws. The overall dimensions are 11 1/4" high x 4 1/4" in diameter. It will accommodate straws up to 9" long.
