Goldak is another one of the literally hundreds of companies that attempted to keep up with the demand for prospecting equipment  during the Uranium rush of the 1950s.  Most of them either folded or transitioned into other types of instruments by 1960 when the large government bonuses were discontinued.  Detectron , one of the most prolific manufacturers was founded by a man who had worked for Goldak but left when they refused to go into the Geiger counter business.  After seeing his success they followed suit . This is a small unit by comparison to the other models they and others made.  It employed an internal 6306 GM tube.  This one is damaged and not functional.  More can be learned about this and other '50s Geiger Counters on the ORAU museum internet site.
