Electrostatic Air Assisted Airless Paint Spray Package Complete "Turn key" system This package consists of the following items: New Graco AA4500 high pressure (3000psi) Airless electrostaic spray gun with air assist. New DeVilbiss Magna Mini 32:1 1/2 gpm high pressure paint pump New Graco 50' special air hose with integral static ground & LH fitting New Graco 50' airless paint hose - working pressure 3300psi Graco Pro AA4500 The Graco ProAA4500 electrostatic high pressure airless gun is used for the application of coatings with a high viscosity where the high fluid pressure is necessary to atomize the paint as it is being forced through small orifice of the airless tip. The electrostatic feature can be turned on or off with the flip of a switch. The air assist feature is used to finely feather the top & bottom tails of the airless spray pattern. This is NOT a powder coating spray gun, this gun is for the application of solvent based liquid paints. The following statements are directly from the Graco owners manual for the AA4500 airless gun. The air-assisted airless spray gun combines airless and air spraying concepts. The spray tip shapes the fluid into a fan pattern, as does a conventional airless spray tip. Air from the air cap further atomizes the fluid and completes the atomization of the paint tails into the pattern to produce a more uniform pattern. As the gun is triggered, the regulated air is directed to the air cap for the air-assist function and air is also directed to the power cartridge turbine. The regulated air that is directed to the air cap can be further controlled using the gun’s air control valve. This valve can be used to restrict air flow to the air cap while maintaining sufficient air flow to the turbine. The air control valve does not control pattern width. The ability of the PRO AA4500 Electrostatic Spray Gun to spray at higher fluid pressures provides the additional power needed to atomize higher solids materials. The gun’s internal power cartridge provides high voltage current. The fluid is electrostatically charged as it passes the gun’s electrode. The charged fluid is attracted to the grounded object, wrapping around and evenly coating all surfaces. NOTE: The gun’s air control valve can be completely turned off to have airless atomization if desired. Closing the air control valve does not effect the operation of the turbine. Power Supply’s Adjustable Lower Voltage Setting The gun’s lower voltage setting (LO) is adjustable. The LO setting can be adjusted from 45 to 80 kV; it is preset by the factory at 60 kV. See page 36 to change the setting. NOTE: The gun’s full (HI) voltage setting is 85 kV. If your application requires a high pressure paint heater let me know as I have a number of both clean used and new Binks paint heaters in my warehouse that can be used with this system. DeVilbiss QFA-512 Magna Mini high pressure paint pump The DeVilbiss Magna Mini QFA-512 is a high quality paint pump that was engineered and built by DeVilbiss of Toledo Ohio. This pump will deliver 1/2 gallon of paint per minute up to 3200psi. There are two adjustable air regulators on this unit, one is to adjust the air pressure to the pump to adjust the output pressure of the paint, the second air regulator is to adjust the air pressure for the grounded airline going to the spray gun to supply compressed air for the guns internal air turbine alternator, which creates the electrostatic charge, and for the air assist feature. These pumps are bullet proof, I have three much larger QFA -518 pumps that I purchased new back in 1982, they all still perform like new and I will not consider selling them for any price. Take good care of them and clean them thoroughly and they will outlast you. DeVilbiss packaged the Magna Mini with a conventional airless spray gun for painting tractor trailer boxes, trailer tankers, rail road box cars and large vans, basically anything big that was going to need a lot of paint and a means to apply that paint in a reasonable amount of time and achieve a high quality automotive finish. The DeVilbiss airless spray gun and the DeVilbiss airless paint hose that are pictured in the DeVilbiss catalog clipping are NOT included. Graco high pressure airless paint hose 50' This is a 50' length of new old stock Graco blue high pressure air hose which has a working pressure of 3300psi Graco air hose with integral static ground and ground attachment cable GRACO LEFT HAND THREADED ELECTROSTATIC GROUNDED HOSE ASSY. PART # 223072 5/16" ID X 50' This is a brand new, unused 50 foot grounded air hose assembly. It has the funky left handed thread that is required to attach to a number of the Graco electrostatic spray guns such as the: Pro3500SC, Pro4500SC, ProXS3, ProXS4 and Pro AA4000 series electrostatic spray guns. This hose will attach to any of the Graco electrostatic spray guns that require the air hose to have the left handed thread fitting. In addition the left handed fitting on the end that attaches to the spray gun, there is also the grounding wire that is attached to the opposite end of the hose where the air connection fitting is a standard female right handed thread. If 50' length hoses are not long enough for your specific application, no problem, the high pressure airless paint hose is standard and you can get 100' lengths from most any paint equipment supplier. The air hose is another matter, the longest air hose that Graco makes for electrostatic guns I believe is 75'. This is not a problem because I buy bulk 500 foot reels of DeVilbiss and Binks air hose which has the static grounding wire built into it. I can make you any length up to whatever is on the reel and since I also machine the left hand threaded air fitting that is necessary to attach the air line to the Graco electrostatic gun, making the connection to the gun is not a problem. At one time one of my customers wanted me to paint a few of their heavy cranes, at that time we used just a standard Garco Silver Airless gun with a Fine Finish Tip for the application of the black Imron, which went on beautifully, like I was spraying with a Binks Model 7 except without the cloud of overspray associated with an air atomizing spray gun. Even though the overspray was at a minimum with the Graco silver gun it was a major pain to paint around all the steel bar, the electrostatics would have been a real treat to use. I came across the opportunity to purchase a few of these AA4500 guns just in case the need to paint one of these monster cranes came up again, some were demo guns used for a 1/2 hour demonstration, one was a brand new gun, this is the gun I am including in this package. I decided not to get involved with that type work so I never had the opportunity to try any of these. If they are anything like the other Graco electrostatic equipment that I have and use on a regular basis then I can assure you that you will not be disappointed by this gun. I suspect that you most likely will be amazed as I was the first time I used a Graco electrostatic gun. Graco claims that the electrostatic airless guns will give you a greater transfer efficiency than even the 85kv air spay guns. If you are painting “big stuff” like bridges, cranes, bull dozers, Terex dump trucks, transport tankers or big trailers for Semi rigs then this thing will be right at home and will save you a ton of money in more if not all the paint going onto your behemoth object and little if any going out the exhaust. I have NEVER met a paint supplier that had anything good to say about electrostatic spray systems……..gee, I wonder why. Start reducing your paint usage by 40-70% and see how happy your paint supplier(s) are. TRAINING IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE PURCHASE OF ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS. I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ......WITHIN REASON, BUT SINCE I HAVE NEVER USED THE GRACO AIRLESS ELECTROSTATIC GUNS, MY EXPERTISE IS LIMITED. This equipment is sold without any warrantee.
