I purchased this unit for a 3 phase lathe that I sold just before the unit arrived, so I did not need it, nor did my buyer who has a shop with 3 phase power. I would have returned it to the seller/manufacturer, but let too much time elapse (approximately 8 months since I purchased). I had used a similar circuit with my lathe, home-brewed, and was happy with the performance and never bothered by the motors ability to deliver less than 100% full power when using the device. From Manufacturer: This is a heavy duty single phase to three phase converter made by WNY Supply & Manufacturing.  It will provide power for a 220v - 3phase motor rated between 1 HP and max of 3 HP.  Model number is SCM03.  This is a new static phase converter unit that I can be used to power a 3 phase milling machine, drill press, lathe or any easy to normal starting load.  Please keep in mind that a static phase converter provides 2/3's of the rated HP with whatever motor you power it with.  This static phase converter is designed to be wired in on the line side of the single phase power, so you will not need to modify your three phase equipment to use this static phase converter.  Included will be the instruction sheet that gives detailed instructions for wiring this unit to a 220 volt power single phase circuit and allowing you to use 3 phase wired machinery where you don't have access to commercial 3 phase power from your power company.  Unit comes with a one year warranty.... If you feel uncertain about connecting this device you might want to purchase from the manufacturer (on ebay) their listing will be under pnysupply.  I am only slightly undercutting their price. They are the seller I originally purchased the unit from. They might be willing to extend their technical support to this unit, but I do not know their policy. Thanks.
