American holly is an excellent wood for turning, carving, inlay and is used in the making of fine furniture. In the past it was also valued for use as wood block engraving, umbrella handles, and the backs of brushes. When dyed black, holly resembles the much-sought-after African ebony wood. Therefore, holly is often used for the black keys on pianos and organs and for the pegs and fingerboards on violins. You are viewing a phenomenal listing of ONE PIECE of 1/16", kiln-dried, pure-white, American Holly veneer. The photo is a sample only and very accurately reflects the high-quality (blazing white!) Holly veneer that we supply. This veneer is cut right off the holly log, therefore it is not square-edged, and slightly varies in width from one end to the other. Average width is over 4-1/2". Piece is about 90" long. PLEASE NOTE: The piece you receive will have some darker heartwood along part of the one edge (see photo!), however, most of this falls outside of the 4-1/2" width and has therefore been tallied out. This is pure-white, gorgeous holly veneer which you will not find anywhere else.
