For every other day, your heating system is essentially larger than it needs to be. With conventional boiler controls, this “oversized” boiler burns more fuel than is needed to keep the house warm. The new Fuel Smart HydroStat control uses Thermal Targeting™ technology to analyze thermostat activity and continually evaluate how much heat the house requires. When it is very cold outside, the heat demand is high and the Fuel Smart HydroStat raises the boiler’s temperature to provide needed heat to the home. When the outside temperature is milder, the heat demand is lower. During these periods, the Fuel Smart HydroStat lowers the boiler’s temperature – saving fuel – while the more moderate boiler temperatures provide comfortable and more even heating. The principal of regulating boiler temperatures based on heating loads is not new. It has been used for decades with studies demonstrating average annual fuel savings of 10%. Savings in the milder Fall and Spring months can exceed 20%. Until now, this technology was very expensive and difficult to install.
