Midnight Black!The Model 5020 Hygrothermograph is a precision, self-contained temperature and humidity monitor that simultaneously measures and records ambient temperature and relative humidity on a double scale chart. It is ideal for measurements in laboratories, computer rooms, libraries, museums, or agricultural areas. The recording hygrothermograph employs an aged bimetal strip which distorts with changes in temperature. This distortion is magnified through a lever system which moves a pen arm over the upper half of a 7" high chart. The response is linear on the recording hygrothermograph. Temperature is recorded over a 60C or 110F span. The span can be adjusted up or down to match the temperature range of the installation site. Corresponding charts are available for this temperature and humidity monitor. Normal calibration adjustments on the recording hygrothermograph are made by turning a knurled knob which moves the pen up or down the scale through movements of the lever system. A specially treated bundle of human hair is used to measure relative humidity over the full range of 0-100%. This temperature and humidity monitor records the hair's expansion and contraction with increased or decreased water vapor in the air. This movement is transmitted to the pen arm using a linkage system. Opposing quadrants in the linkage linearize the nonlinear response of the hair bundle. The chart is installed on a self-contained, battery-operated clock. The drum rotation may be selected as 1 day (26 hours), 7 days (176 hours), or 31 days. Internal parts of the hygrothermograph are chrome plated brass. Pivots are polished instrument-grade stainless steel for fast response. The base of the temperature and humidity monitor's case is cast aluminum. Large openings in the sides, end, and bottom permit free flow of ambient air to the sensors. A glass window in the hinged cover makes chart reading easy. Recording is accomplished using reliable, replaceable cartridge pens. When the hygrothermograph is used outdoors, it must be protected from direct solar radiation by installing it in an instrument shelter. It is a 8 day wind up clock and not tested if it works or not. Can you hear it run after you wind it?? It also only has two speeds, 1 day and 7 day if it has all the external chart speed gears are there. Look for a second set of gears that should come with this unit. Often these get lost. So to run 7 days you must have a set of special gears for it and the same way for 1 day chart speeds. These chart speeds are NOT changed by a selecting switch but manually changing the gears on the bottom of the clock. It would be best to have a photo of the bottom of the clock and showing both sets of gears . Also when it was new maybe these specs. were true on the accuracy but not true anymore because time has a effect the sensors. Especially the hair bundle. The hair bundle does not last and becomes old and starts expanding differently in time. However, it is a very nice looking recorder with a million of them out there. ! NO RESERVE! SHIPPING IS $12.89
