It’s an extremely durable, long-lasting and superbly manufactured retaining cap. Using off-brand spare parts might save you a little money now, but could also jeopardize your Powermax Plasma Cutter. A retaining cap is essential for a plasma cutter because it keeps the swirl ring and nozzle in the right position, controlling the flow of coolant to the outside of the nozzle. The nozzle’s front composite piece is key to properly installing the shield concentric onto the nozzle orifice. This permits the nozzle to direct secondary gas to the shield. If it doesn’t function adequately due to poor positioning, your Hypertherm Powermax 65 or Hypertherm Powermax 85 plasma cutter will deliver lower quality cuts.
