Ok this is truly a one of a kind piece of Functional Race Art for a bar, restaurant or hihg-end man cave.   What do you do with Tora Takagi's thoroughly crashed Carbon Fiber CART/IndyCar Tub Chassis #0646?   You turn it into the most amazing piece of furniture/art for a restaurant or man-cave of course.  Imagine this in a resutrant, bar, large media room, lobby or reception area – a race themed eye catcher that draws people up to it.  Every time we have visitors they look at it and usually the words are things like “wow” and “holy cow that was a big crash”.  This thing brings you in close to the energy of a big crash.  The wide base of the tub provides a solid stable foundation for the chassis to stand upright – a perfect TV display and much more.   The story – A few years ago I bought this tub with a plan to build a race simulator using the tub.  We decided that there was a better use for this.  In the 2002 the CART Surfer’s Paradise Australian race was far from typical.  The high-speed street course was covered in a heavy rain and the start between the temporary concrete barriers with lots of water spray from the wings of the cars made the visibility even worse.    What do you get?  Well, one of the most spectacular sets of crashes and mayhem on a front straight in racing.  In the end the race had to be red-flagged and restarted and at least 9 cars were damaged and out on that first lap crash.  The car is upside down in the photo near the safety worked in yellow – red and white upside down.   Tora Takagi was one of those drivers and his Toyota Denso sponsored car went completely upside down as he ping-ponged down the straight hitting several other cars.  Search Youtube for 2002 Surfer’s Paridise Crash and you will find tons of videos of this incident and clearly see Tora’s car in the center of the Mayhem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfOzkQQx4Ok   There are tons of videos of this crash-fest and this car is right in the center of the mess!  You can loop the video on the TV and watch as people suddenly realize that this is THE car in the middle of the crashes! Tora Takagi left the crash on a stretcher with a broken pelvis and bruised hip.  When you see the tub you KNOW the crash was huge!  There are clear visual impacts from the wheels and Tora was lucky to survive.   There are very few times and things that you can look at up close and say WOW that was a huge crash.  This is one of those, and this chassis was right in the center of that event.  Tora’s car was hit in the side of the tub (likely what broke his pelvis) and you can see the tub damage inside and out from that impact. Then  the car then spun and flipped ending upside down on the course.   Could you make one of these?  Sure just find a damaged CART/IndyCar/F1 tub with a great crash story and videos and you will have a start.  In reality there are not too many crashes like this one and even fewer tubs from those for sale anywhere in the world in any condition at any price.  This is truly a one of kind piece of Functional Race Art.   Details: The Tub is a Reynard CART Chassis #0646 Includes brand new TV - 48” Visio E-Series Smart TV (The TV is so new we haven’t even removed the protective screen plastic) Includes high-end angle and swivel TV mount – rated for up to 80” TVs. Includes brand new Koolatron wine/beer cooler (never had food or drink in it) Cold with a digital temp display and interior light. Includes 3 simulated Carbon Fiber shelves one for the cooler and 2 for your electronics or displays. If you don’t need the TV or Cooler – we’re happy to talk about a price without these items and shipping but the majority of the value is in the chassis.   Imagine having this TV display in your Restaurant, Shop or Man-Cave!  The smart TV will even allow you to stream the actual crash on the screen from YouTube! The extra shelves are ready for your gaming console or audio system and you can easily add extra electronics in the tub, lighting or almost anything you can think up.   Why are we selling this cool thing? This is one of my Functional Art projects.  I have a few large interesting one-of-a-kind pieces and as they finish you may see them here and in galleries around the U.S.  The goal is get each one done and out of the shop to make room for the next one… What else is coming?  Well we have a really large laser etched wooden image that is also a hidden cabinet and a large upright Piano that will become a dry bar.  Each one is truly a unique project and I’m really happy on how the Race Car Tub project turned out.  You will not find something like this anywhere…  Normally this would sell for twice the reserve in a gallery - then why sell on EBay - because I decided to try this first - in reality the gallery gets a big percentage and this way more people can see and maybe even afford such a cool piece of Art.  Ok it's a stretch to call it Art but it's fun to look at AND is functional too. Always my goal!   Shipping: We encourage in-person pickup but will always work with the buyer.  The original boxes and packing along with all the paperwork is retained for the TV, Cooler and TV mount so they can safely be repacked for movement.  The chassis is large but super-strong and can easily be crated and shipped as freight.  We are happy to work with a winning bidder to arrange delivery at actual costs - no hidden profits.  We’ve had great success with UShip for large items like this one.
