INSULATED 1/4" TO 5mm SHAFT COUPLERS or COUPLINGS, PACK OF 3. 5kV BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE. This is a package of THREE shaft couplers that mate a 1/4" shaft to a 5mm shaft. They are 3/4" long, 1/2" in diameter, have 4 setscrews and are made of ACETAL (DELRIN(R)). This material has a breakdown voltage of 450 Volts per thousandths of an inch, a surface resistance of over 1,000 MegOhms, a dielectric constant at 1MHz of 3.7 and an extremely low dissipation factor of 0.005. THEY ARE WELL SUITED FOR USE IN HIGH VOLTAGE OR HIIGH-RF ENVIRONMENTS. These are great for applications where you need to isolate a shaft electrically. They have a breakdown rating of 5,000 volts minimum. Great for Ham Radio projects, HIPOT testers, anywhere that there is a voltage present on a shaft and it needs to be isolated from the front panel shaft. THE BORE DOES NOT EXTEND THROUGH THE COUPLER, WHICH GIVES THEM THEIR HIGH BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE. There is a minimum of 0.030" of insulation between the end of the two bores, which totally isolates any voltage on one shaft from the other. They have 2 long and 2 short setscrews, so if your shaft(s) have flats, use the long setscrews on the flat portion. These are solid couplers, so they won't fix any shaft mis-alignment. These also work for motion control applications, like coupling motors to shafts, but one of our aluminum couplers (see our other listings) may be more appropriate for that application. These are perfect for ham radio projects, like joining two shafts together, or any other general purpose use where an insulation barrier is required, like high-voltage breakdown testers, etc. They are made in the USA, and ship from North Carolina by First Class USPS Mail.
