Jackson Model 648S Tube Tester, excellent condition. Although not as common as the B&K or Hickok testers, this is a very well made and documented unit. Full manual and service information book (including calibration) is available on Ebay (NOT included with this auction). Knobs cleaned, controls and switches cleaned, and tested with 6SN7, 5Y3, 80 and other tubes. This is not simply an " emission" tester. Jackson marketed as a "Dynamic" tester, which uses AC signals applied to the tube. It sold for $154.95 when new in 1962 or so. This is the second best tube tester ever made by Jackson, according to information in "Tube Testers and Classic Electronic Test Gear" book by Alan Douglas. According to the author, "the later 648 testers [of which this is one] are the equal of any emission tester". It will test most tubes 1928-1965, which is of great advantage to have such wide range in one tester. This model has sockets for the 4,5,6,7 large pin types as well as the Loctal, octal, 7 and 9 pin minature tubes, plus the later Novar, Compactron and Nuvistors. It has an unusual motorized tube chart built in, which works. Features a variable sensitivity shorts test, easy to read large meter, life test switch and line adjust. Every function appears to be in working order. The original owners manual and expanded tube chart are included, there are more update charts beyond this available. This tester will test popular types such as the 6L6, Type 10 and 50 triodes, 7591A and 7868 (as used in Fisher 400, 500 and 800) as well as older tubes such as the 01A and 99 triodes and many industrial types, preamp tubes such as 12AX7, 7025 , 6267 and many others.
